What we know

One-story frame drugstore with a two-story dwelling behind, on both Sanborn maps (S-0147). Probably Dr. W. M. Bonnett's drugstore and office, which survived the fire of Aug. 18, 1889 on the north side of Second (Lavelett, S-0011, p. 79); Bonnett is the directories' physician and druggist from 1884 to 1888 (pp. 27-29). The rest of this frontage, toward Washington, is empty on both maps.

Where it was

305 Second Street, north side, on the Sanborn Fire Insurance Map of Monument, sheet 1, Nov. 1895 and Oct. 1900 (Library of Congress, S-0147); placed by fitting the sheet to today's Front, Washington and Jefferson street crossings at 1st and 3rd streets (six points, each within about 15 feet of the fit). Good to about a hundred feet.
