The site sets no cookies of its own and carries no advertising or tracking scripts.

The contribution form

When you send a note, the site stores what you type (your note and, if you give them, your name, email, connection and how you'd like to be credited), the page you sent it from, the time, and any files you attach. It is stored in Cloudflare's database and file storage under this site's account and is read only by Michael Christensen. Your email address is used only to reply to you about your note. Nothing is sold or shared.

The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out spam. Turnstile checks your browser when you use the form; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.

To have a note or file deleted, write to [email protected].

Places on the map

The map and place pages draw on public records: government place-name and land records, old newspapers, published histories and maps. They name people of the past; they do not name the present owners of private property. Native American graves and artifact sites are shown only at the nearest named place. Many places on the map are private property today; please ask before visiting.
