This Washington Street building dates from about 1888: the library's record says built 1888, and Lierd first appears in the town's business directory that year (S-0011 pp. 27-29). He was also a wholesale potato dealer and an undertaker. Later J. M. Brown's; the volunteer fire station from 1949 (Lavelett, S-0011, pp. 15, 17, 48, 50, 80).
