What we know

Edith Wolford came to teach at the Black Forest school in 1934; her husband died in 1938 (Ira, per the church's charter list), after which she boarded with the Tevebaughs, in their log house about half a mile east of the community center (Ellett pp. 28, 31). In 1941 her home was in the Falcon School District; in 1956 she sold land about a quarter mile west of the community center for the Truett-Frazier garage (Ellett pp. 30, 66). Ellett prints a 1987 photo of 'Edith Wolford's Place' (p. 14) without saying which house. She taught 52 years, retired in 1969, and the school was renamed for her (p. 44).
