What we know

District 36, founded June 1913 for the children of the Du Pont powder works' employees, in a building and teacherage Du Pont supplied; usually three classrooms; children from the 'flats' and the 'hill' were the 'flat rats' and 'hill brats.' Closed and torn down in 1961 (county map, S-0123).

Where it was

On the fringe of the Divide outline (3.1 miles outside its edge), included as a fringe place. Pin on the Douglas County Historic Resource Map (DCHR-195; S-0123). Where that map and ours place the same site, the pins mostly fall within about 300 feet. Good to a few hundred feet.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
