What we know

D&RG station and C. R. Husted's sawmill (1875); 'Husted station, six miles below' Henry's and 'thirteen miles' above Colorado Springs (News, 1873); the Southwater post office, a mile north, moved here and took the name Husted at the end of 1878 (PO 1878-1895 and 1896-1920); the Aug. 14, 1909 collision. Gone, on Air Force Academy land.

Where it was

Center of Sec. 12, T12S R67W, from Place Names of Colorado ('RR Post Office on D&RG 1878-1920'), via the BLM PLSS survey grid; good to about half a mile. Judy von Ahlefeldt's 1979 map of the Black Forest puts Husted within about a mile of it, and PLHS places it near the Academy's north entrance. Wikipedia's point (38.991, -104.833) is two miles farther south.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
