What we know

Lavelett, as quoted by Rob Carrigan (2008) and Danny Summers (2011), puts 'one of the largest and best fox farms in the west' off Baptist Road and credits it to a Mr. Shelby, with Dave Gibbs as first manager. Judy von Ahlefeldt instead puts Dr. Frank Shelby's Black Forest Silver Fox Ranch on Ayer's Road, and Gibbs's own large farm east of Monument. Who owned this farm is unresolved. A William Brown Ranch near Gwillimville was raising 'beefalo' in 1979 (von Ahlefeldt p. 97).

Where it was

'A very large one over towards Monument. It was at the end of what is now Baptist Road. It recently …' (Ellett p. 66); 'the William Brown Fox Farm near Roller Coaster Road' (von Ahlefeldt p. 92). Placed at the park's center in OpenStreetMap; the farm's extent is not known.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
