What we know

Patrick Murphy, born in Ireland in 1821, cooked for the Union army and came west after the war. Known for his cakes and pies, he lived here until about World War I and died in 1926 at 105 (von Ahlefeldt pp. 24-26).

Where it was

'Pat's barn and corrals still stand northeast of the intersection of … County Highway 105 and State Highway 83' (von Ahlefeldt p. 25); that junction in OpenStreetMap. One source; good to about a quarter mile. The 1976 survey's Pettigrew Ranch, a mile south, says Murphy and Pettigrew homesteaded together in 1869.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
