PO June 3, 1873 (Alvarado Arnold) to March 31, 1959; D&RG station 47 miles from Denver; 'To the eastward, five miles, is Spring Valley' (Crofutt 1881); later the Greenland Ranch headquarters (Kountze from 1886; Higbys from 1909). County open space since 1996-97.

USGS GNIS Populated Place 193187. Townsite platted by Fred Z. Salomon, Sept. 28, 1875: W1/2 SE NE and E1/2 SW NE, Sec. 14, T10S R67W (abstract of title). The post office stayed in Sec. 14 from 1873 to 1959. GNIS's point is inside the platted quarter.
