What we know

Charles Allis came to Greenland in 1894 and built his ranch house in 1911; Jack Allis was later the depot agent (Higginson, S-0045). Through the Larkspur Historical Society's efforts the Allis Ranch was designated a contributing site of the Greenland Townsite District Landmark in 2014, and part of it is under a conservation easement beside Greenland Open Space (society's projects page, S-0045).

Where it was

West of the Greenland townsite, between the Santa Fe and Carpenter Creek, on the 1999 sketch of Greenland as of 1937 (Larkspur society, S-0045); the sketch is not to scale. Good to about a quarter mile.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
