What we know

Dr. William Thompson, the town's founder, gave Palmer Lake a schoolhouse in 1888: grades 1-8, one teacher, 20 to 30 pupils. It served until 1934, when Palmer Lake Elementary opened on Upper Glenway, and became a residence (Case 2019).
