What we know

At the Divide's north foot on Cherry Creek and the Cherokee Trail. The Pine Grove post office was applied for in 1863 and established Dec. 8, 1870 at the 20 Mile House (NW1/4 Sec. 22, T6S R66W); James S. Parker became postmaster in December 1877 and the office was renamed Parker on March 17, 1882 (Bauer, via S-0123). Pine Grove school district (No. 10) dates from before 1868; the Parker Consolidated School opened in 1915 (S-0123).
