What we know

Built for Monument's Methodists by the Rev. John L. Dyer, the 'Snow-shoe Itinerant': 16 by 24 feet, lathed and plastered, over $300; George Newbrough cut the square nails. In 1975 it was part of Lela Hagedorn's house. Dyer's Monument circuit also served Blakely Mill, Weir's Mill and Farmers Mill. Charles Adams deeded the church its lot (lot 11, block 6) on Nov. 16, 1874 (Lavelett, S-0011, p. 81, citing Dyer's book and Book K p. 66).
