What we know

Charles Adams gave block 2, west of Front Street, to the town for a park in 1883; trees were planted in 1884 and Henry Limbach seeded it to grass in 1885. It is now Limbach Park; in 2004 the railroad owned about its southern half (Lavelett, S-0011, p. 78). Drawn as 'Park' on both Sanborn maps (S-0147).

Where it was

The block between Front Street and the Rio Grande south of Second, drawn as 'Park', on the Sanborn Fire Insurance Map of Monument, sheet 1, Nov. 1895 and Oct. 1900 (Library of Congress, S-0147); placed by fitting the sheet to today's Front, Washington and Jefferson street crossings at 1st and 3rd streets (six points, each within about 15 feet of the fit). Good to about a hundred feet.
