What we know
Classes began upstairs in Benjamin Quick's house, with Mollie Boon teaching. A schoolhouse came in 1868 and was moved on runners as the families shifted: George Robinson's place, near John Cantril's in 1871, below the Kinner place in 1876. Rebuilt near Cantril's in 1882, it burned on May 17, 1909; closed in the early 1950s; now a barn in the Bear Canyon Agricultural District, National Register (county map, S-0123). National Register Nov. 5, 1975 (county landmarks map, S-0126).
Where it was
Pin on the Douglas County Historic Resource Map (DCHR-186; Douglas County and Douglas County Libraries, 2012, on the Larkspur Historical Society's Google map, S-0123). Where that map and ours place the same site, the pins mostly fall within about 300 feet. Good to a few hundred feet.
Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
