Fairview School and Evans stage stop

SchoolsHistoric or vanishedEl Paso County

What we know

One-room school of about 1885 paid for by J. G. Evans; it served children south of Table Rock and north of the forest, and was later moved onto his ranch. A log shed beside it is identified as a former stagecoach stop and warming station, probably older than Evans's arrival (PPLD records of survey B16; the 1987 Black Forest Preservation Plan's Map 2 No. 10, 'Fairview School, Evans Stage Stop').

Where it was

Behind the Evans ranch house, 7315 Hodgen Road (PPLD records of survey photos B16), El Paso County address point (county locator, 2026-10-05). The school's first site, 'across the road, and some distance away', is not placed.

A street address, located with the county's address points.
