What we know

Organized Feb. 18, 1874 at Spring Valley; it met at the schoolhouse (1878, 1900) and ran a co-operative store, sold to Jacob Geiger in April 1884 ('Call on the wild Dutchman,' his 1881 advertisement); Jacob Geiger was master in 1900 (Castle Rock Journal and Douglas County News items quoted on the county map, S-0123).
