## What we know

One of the high points of the Black Forest, beside Vollmer Road, the old Angling Road, one of the few roads through the forest at the start of the 1920s (von Ahlefeldt pp. 45, 95). Paul Vollmer owned a ranch on what became Vollmer Road (von Ahlefeldt, interview list, S-0009); Paul F. and Cornelius J. Vollmer were Ford agents in Colorado Springs from 1913 as Vollmer Brothers (Stone 1918, S-0193). That the hill is named for the family is an inference.

## Where it was

USGS GNIS feature 193290, summit, 7,707 feet (S-0006); the USGS elevation service gives 7,700 feet there (checked 2026-10-11). Koch's p. 19 map prints 'Vollmer Hill 7704'' about 2.7 miles north, in Sec. 28, T11S R65W (S-0197), but the ground there is 7,564 feet and nothing within a mile of her label tops 7,640, so her label is displaced and her elevation is this hill's.
