## What we know

The pioneer ranch of Oliver P. Jackson, homesteaded by 1878 and enlarged to 1888 (S-0080). Lavelett: Olaf Johnson of Kansas bought 'the pioneer ranch of O. P. Jackson' and sold it to his brother-in-law Hans Saue, who married Selma Johnson in 1915; they spent their first year 'in the log cabin that had been built by O. P. Jackson' before building a new house. The ranch 'had several good springs and water, and produced many tons of oats and native hay', with pasture for cattle (S-0013, pp. 72-73). The homestead is the north part of today's Gleneagle.

## Where it was

Oliver P. Jackson's homestead patent of Jan. 25, 1878, E1/2 NW and W1/2 NE of Sec. 31, T11S R66W, with smaller cash entries in Sec. 31 (1885, 1888) and Sec. 30 (1881) (BLM GLO, read 2026-10-09, S-0080). The point is the homestead's center on the BLM PLSS grid; good to about a quarter mile. Lavelett puts the ranch 'two miles east of Husted', which would be about two and a half miles south of here; where on the land Jackson's cabin stood is not known.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
