## What we know

Henry Guire's homestead. The Guires came from Iowa in the 1860s with willow cuttings kept alive in barrels; the willows still stood at the Guire and Dolan homes in 1974. Their house was stone with two-foot walls and portholes. The settlement's first community Christmas tree was here, and Utes camped in the Guire meadow (Lavelett, S-0011, pp. 3-6). The survey lists David Guire's (1 mile west) and Joe Guire's (2 miles southwest) homesteads under the same name.

## Where it was

'Willow grove, guire homestead, hwy. 105, 1 mi. e. of monument' (survey B41, S-0101); Henry Guire's home 'just one mile east of Monument' (Lavelett, S-0011, p. 6). Placed one mile east of Front and Second streets along Highway 105 in OpenStreetMap (2026-10-06); the old road's line may differ. Good to about half a mile.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
