## What we know

Stone ranch house with three-foot walls (about 1910), a 1920s horse-and-mule barn painted 'Grandview Ranch / 2120 Acres', a three-story dairy barn and a stone potato cellar that held six to eight thousand bushels; the house and barn were gone by 2026, per the library's cataloger (PPLD records of survey B10; the 1987 Black Forest Preservation Plan's Map 2 No. 23). The Whitmore brothers homesteaded it in the late 1880s (2,000-plus acres, 'about a mile and a half from' Eastonville) and left in 1899. John Evans built its barns. In 1975 the land became Woodlake subdivision, and the headquarters and barns went to the El Paso County Park District (von Ahlefeldt pp. 29, 70, 76, 90). That conflicts with the PPLD cataloger's 2026 note that the house and barn are gone.

## Where it was

'1/4 mile west of Eastonville Road on the south side of' Hodgen Road (PPLD records of survey photos B10); measured from the Hodgen-Eastonville crossing in OpenStreetMap (2026-10-05).

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
