## What we know

In 1873 Mr. and Mrs. Hunt bought the ranch on what became Hunt Mountain; their daughter Isa called it 'a beautiful spot' (county map, S-0123). Probably the family of Gov. Alexander C. Hunt, whose wife is credited with naming Larkspur.

## Where it was

The county map's pin (DCHR-033, S-0123). It lies between GNIS's Hunt Mountain (summit, 39.2592, -104.8733), 1.6 miles southwest, and Hunt Gulch, about a mile northeast; both are north of Larkspur, so the map text's 'west of the town of Larkspur' looks like the error. Good to about a mile.

Placed from a written description, such as a land section, a distance from a landmark or an old survey note.
